5. GPS INCREASES PRODUCTIVITY OF CITY DRIVERS
The Aurora Public Works Department in Aurora, Colorado was one of the first in the nation to utilize GPS technology in their city vehicles.
100 of their vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking to monitor vehicle location and status. This helps to provide better customer service as dispatchers can determine where the vehicles are and how soon they will get to a particular area.
According to Lynne Center, project engineer at Aurora Public Works, there has also been a 15 to 17 percent increase in productivity since the devices were installed.
