According to a recent survey of Information Technology (IT) decision makers in the transportation, manufacturing and trucking/warehousing industries, GPS tracking helps to increase mobile workforce productivity and reduces annual labor and fuel operating costs.
Nearly 50 percent of GPS users saw a significant reduction in fuel consumption with a reduction in travel distance by an average of 231.2 miles per week and recording $51,582 in annual fuel savings.

3. SOUTH CAROLINA INSTALLING GPS TO SAVE MONEY
South Carolina is banking on the benefits of GPS by spending $4 million to install GPS units in the state's school buses and road construction vehicles.
According to Don Tudor, the state Education Department's transportation director, if the devices cut fuel use by just a couple of gallons of gas daily per bus, they'll pay for themselves within a year.
"The numbers are really, really simple," said Tudor. "It's amazing how quickly it pays for itself, on top of all the safety benefits."
