Using Automated Alerts

The FleetMatics GPS Vehicle Tracking Solution provides fleet owners with a variety of alerts that will notify you if your vehicles exceed any thresholds that you set. Parameters that you can set up for alerts include speed, idling times, points of interest, and vehicle activity.

The alert system immediately notifies you when a violation occurs and can send the alerts to you via email. This enables you to check the alert system at your convenience.

A powerful way to use the alert system is to combine them with scheduled reports. Scheduled reports are automatically generated and emailed to you on a regular schedule.

Here’s an example of how to use the alert system and scheduled reports to monitor high speed.

Let’s say that speed limits in an area are 65 MPH on average. First, a fleet owner could set their scheduled report for high speed at 70 MPH. Every time the report is generated, the owner would see every instance when a driver exceeded this threshold. This provides a convenient way to pinpoint chronic speeders.

Second, a fleet owner could set the immediate alert system for 75 or 80 MPH. This way they would be immediately notified of very excessive speeding and take action to end the behavior.
